The 2023 Jim Matthews Awards
The 2023 Jim Matthews Awards saw CF King submit the 3 Te Kehu Way, Sylvia Park. This projects unique feature are the 4 different coloured green bricks. Each brick colour required different faces to be glazed, examples as follows, 1 face only, 1 face one end, 1 face one bottom edge, 1 face two ends. Overall, we required 15 different brick types to construct this brick veneer, where every exposed face or edge needed to be glazed.
There was a specific design stepped corbel combined with brick pilasters as a feature. Specially made extra long brick ties were imported from England to accommodate the specific design brick cavity as it increased 15mm each course for the four courses required on the corbel.
This project took out the Silver award. Well done to Andy and the crew on a very unique building, the craftsmanship here was excellent, and the QA involved was stringent.
