The 2022 Jim Matthews Awards
The 2022 Jim Matthews Awards saw CF King submit the Te Puna Cafe at the Auckland Zoo for one of its two applications.
This projects unique feature are there are no straight walls in the whole building. This consisted of two structures with uneven curved walls combined with uneven raking tops of the buildings.
The building has vast expanse of brickwork all curved to flow with the overall design.
Brick was also used for the internal cladding which was also completely curved.
This project took out the Gold award. Well done to Wade, Rod and the crew on a very unique building, the craftsmanship here was excellent, next time you are at the zoo go and check it out!
CF King also submitted The Point & Miller Apartments for the JMA awards and I am pleased to announce we won a Silver award. The specific patterned corbel bricks to the facade and the hit and miss screen brick fence with attached planters were specific features that placed this building apart from some of the others. The quality of the bricks laid was outstanding, well done to Lance and the team for producing this fantastic looking building.
